Happy Halloween!

Time to scare up goodies for those little trick or treaters coming to your door tonight. I have my WIC approved size bag of candy waiting for the little munchinks or Christopher and his friends! Jose is attending parties with Crystal. I don't think I want to see that costume. I'm sure it will be risque.

We ar elooking forward to going to KY for Thanksgiving this year. We haven't been to KY since April for a funeral. I'll be glad to see family and friends. I can't forget to pack a parka for mom and dad's house. It is always meat-locker cold in there.

Jorge and I have already booked our next cruise. We'll be headed to sunny Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Marteen. Jorge hasn't been to PR since he left at the age of 5. Looks like we'll get to visit and see some family while we are there. The next voyage will take place in April 2008. We had to assure Chris he would have his birthday gift before we left. The ship is Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas. A huge ship with lots to offer. Mom and Dad are going along with friends from church, Tammy and David Tester. Should be a great trip and we're counting down the days until we leave.

Ok...what you want to know about the pregnancy issue. Jorge's family always asks when the baby is coming. Well...not this month! I have just read about a great ovulation tester called the OV Watch. You wear it like any other watch and it tells you your best fertile days. This will hopefully take the guess work out of knowing when I'm fertile or when to "make a baby!" We are getting stressed out and I see the dissapointment in my husband's eyes month after month. I/We aren't giving up. This is a dream for both of us and we know God will answer our prayers for a baby. I always thought I would have trouble conceiving, but didn't realize how dissapointed I would be or frustrated. I guess I will just lay it all in God's hands because only He can make my dreams a reality. I know he had plans for us...I just wish he'd clue us in on occassion. In any case, wish us luck and keep praying for us.

Adoption: I know we mentioned adoption earlier and yes...we sent in our application. We have to wait for an informational meeting in January sometime. This takes place in Columbia SC. I kept feeling like we needed to go down this road. So did Jorge. Everyone tells us as soon as we adopt, we'll get pregnant. That's just fine with me. Double blessings is all I see! We'll let you know more as we do. So far, all we've done is prelim stuff.

Honeymooners are back...

We have been back from our honeymoon for a week now and I'm ready to go on another vacation! I forgot how much I love to travel. Jorge does too! We had such an amazing time. It was great to get away from work, laundry, cell phones, laundry oh and did I mention, laundry? Our cruise on the Carnival Glory to the carribean was wonderful. Cozamel Mexico was georgous. We hope to visit there again. Belize was great for the Snerkelin'! That's right I said Snerkelin' Mon! Isla Roatan was a beautiful island off of Hondurous with thick lush vegitation. Jorge and I did a zip line canopy tour followed by time spent at the beach. I had so much fun feeling like Jane and Tarzan swinging through the trees.

After a fun day at sea, Jorge and I took a tour around Freeport Bahamas. I wish we had spent the day at the beach there, but live and learn I guess. Our balcony room was so spacious and our every wish granted. There was so much food on board the ship. I never felt a hunger pain! It wasn't long until our cruise ship headed back home to Cape Canaveral Florida and we were on our way back home to all our babies! We will be posting pictures on the blog soon. We are planning our next trip for the last week of April. Mom and Dad are coming with us as we head to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. This time we will be guests on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas. I've heard this ship is even larger than the Glory. Next Thanksgiving we are hoping to take the boys with us as we go to the Caribbean with any other family that wishes to go. What a great way to travel and see the world. I think we're cruisers for life!

Still praying for guidance

Over the weekend we were fortunate to meet a couple and their newly adopted daughter Chloe Madison. This couple whom we met at Wild Wings in Spartanburg, SC during dinner, had a beautiful baby girl they adopted from China. Jorge and I got the nerve up to ask them about their adoption experience and they were so happy to share their story. While we haven't given up hope in having a baby of our own, we feel God is drawing us towards adoption in addition to giving birth to our own baby someday.

Jorge and I are gathering up as much information as we can so we will make an informed decision. This all seems so big to us right now. Your prayers will greatly help. God hears our prayers and I believe he answers them as well.

Thanks for all your love and support.

Family Update

Wow...the summer has flown and the kids are already back in school. Chris began his freshman year at Byrnes Freshman Academy and is also enrolled in Air Force ROTC. I'm not sure he'll like the whole uniform thing...but I bet he will look handsome just the same. He's grown about a foot this summer and you would believe how much he's changed.

Jose is now working at Hollister. For us old folks...that is a clothing store for teens and young adults. They hired him on the spot when he was shopping there. I know he's happy not to be flipping burgers. He is also a "Nixon Nut". This is like a pep squad before the football games at the high school. He's now a Senior! He gets painted up by the cheerleaders before the games and goes out to get the crowd fired up. (You know he's hating the part where the cheerleaders paint him...right?)

Jorge and I are doing well. We are on a quest to reach our "goal weight", well I am anyway. We have joined the YMCA which is just spitting distance from the house. They have a pool and gym along with other activies. Our family membership includes the boys as well.

We are also praying very hard about expanding our family. Jorge and I would love to have a baby, however we will take whatever God gives us. This includes adoption. We are looking at domestic and international adoption and I am just unsure which way to go. Please pray for our family and ask God to be our guide as we proceed with the adoption process. Pray he will provide the funds for us as we know it will be very costly, but the rewards will be so worth the price.

On another note, we are headed to the Carribean October 5, 2007! We're so excited. Who knows, maybe we'll get pregnant on our Honeymoon. Whatever god will is for us...we will gladly accept it. Wish us great weather and no hurricanes!

We love and miss you all!

The Countdown

We're almost there! Only 9 days and counting until the big day. Gosh there's a lot to do. Slowly we are making progress. I'm hoping to have everything ready to go by the weekend and can really relax next week before we leave.

The boys are getting excited too. Jose wants a new outfit, very typical of 18 year olds, and Chris just wants to take his XBox 360! Patty and Rudy are coming up on Saturday from Atlanta and Rene, Bunny, Daisy and Ana are driving down from New York on Friday. We're so excited to see FAMILY and share such a special day with them. As soon as we can, we'll post pictures on the site for everyone to see. Love to Everyone!

Here comes the Bride...

And Here comes the STRESS! Really everything is going well with our wedding plans. Jorge and I are headed up to Gatlinburg on Saturday to get our marriage license. We're so excited! Everything is coming into place and I'm having a ball putting the finishing touches on everything. I swear I'll have to take a day off work just to get it all together.

The boys each just had a birthday. Jose now 18 and Chris is 14. Can't believe how time flies. Jorge and I were looking through old photos and found lots of the family. TOO CUTE! Luckily we all age like fine wine and get better as we go.

We pray everyone is well. Love to all...

Singing His Praises

I had an audition today at church to sing with one of the many praise teams they have. Everything went very well, however, they have more vocalists than band members and I think they may want me to sing with the kids praise team for a while until a spot opens up. At the same time Jorge will be able to serve as well. There is a need for someone to run sound equipment during the kids service and I know he will be great at it.

Keep us in your prayers that God will use us where he needs us.

Electrical Fencing

Okay, today we thought we almost lost Jewel. Jorge let her out to got tinkle this morning and the next thing you know...she was gone. Jorge looked for her all morning and even went to get Chris out of school early to help look for her. She's done this before...numerous times! However, she's never been gone this long before. Poor Jorge, he was so distraught and I was no help. I was so mad that she took off and took it out on Jorge. I have a lot of making up to do!

I got a call around 12:30pm that someone had found her over two miles from the house! I was so relieved and called Jorge who then went to pick her up. She is our baby and we would all be devistated if we lost her. To eliminate this problem in the future, we will be installing underground electrical dog fencing this weekend at our house. Hopefully she won't take off through that!

First Blog Post

Hi Everyone! This is our first family Blog. We thought we'd keep everyone up to date this way. Here's what's happening at the Valentin House.

Chris and Jose are on Spring Break this week. Jose has been working and is now looking for a body kit for his car for his b-day. Chris has taken up the electric guitar and has had his first lesson. He's very good and picking it up quickly.

Jorge and I just returned from Kentucky attending my aunt's funeral. She passed away from a painful 5 months of lung cancer. She is now with her Lord and Savior tending God's garden. Praise God for ending her suffering.

Wedding plans are coming along as well. Everything is done and we hope to see everyone there. We hated to change the date so last minute, however, there was no way around it. Again, it won't be the same without everyone there.

Honeymoon plans are still in the air, but we are planning a trip sometime this year. Hope everyone is alright and know we all miss you.
